what you'll do
Discover the magic of transforming nature into wearable art in this relaxing, beginner-friendly jewellery workshop.
Using real leaves and fine silver clay, you'll create a delicate pendant or a pair of earrings that captures every vein, curve and tiny detail of your chosen botanical specimen.
Guided by award-winning Adelaide artist Shirley Wu, you'll learn a unique paint-on silver clay technique, gradually building layers of precious metal clay paste over a real leaf. As each layer dries, the silver begins to preserve the intricate textures and natural form of the leaf, transforming it into a timeless piece of jewellery you'll treasure for years to come.
Whether you bring a favourite leaf from your own garden or one collected on a bushwalk, every piece is completely unique and tells its own story.
To ensure the highest quality finish, firing and polishing are completed by Shirley after the workshop according to the studio firing schedule. Your finished jewellery will be ready to collect from the following day.

faq
-
Please bring a few small, fresh leaves from your garden or a recent nature walk. Leaves around 3 cm are ideal, with a maximum size of 5 cm. Thick, textured leaves with visible vein patterns generally produce the best results, such as sage, mint, tiny fig leaf and geranium leaf.
-
Unlike making at home, you'll have an experienced jeweller by your side to guide you through every step, answer questions, and help fix any mistakes along the way. Your ring will also be professionally kiln-fired and finished, giving you the best chance of creating a beautiful, durable piece you'll be proud to wear every day.
-
No jewellery making experience is needed. Shirley will guide you through every step in her Adelaide CBD studio filled with natural light, making this a wonderful experience for beginners, nature lovers, and anyone looking to slow down and create something meaningful.
-
Extra silver clay is available to purchase on the day.
